Hospital histories part 1


The foundation stone for the out patients department of Royal Sussex County Hospital on Eastern Road was laid in 1896. I drew this in 2012.


Photo:St. George's Chapel and County Hospital, 1841: Men, women and children walking in the grounds of St. George's Chapel. Behind them is the Sussex County Hospital and Sea-Bathing Infirmary, which opened on 11 June 1828 with four large and twenty-three small wards, catering for 80 patients.

The Sussex County Hospital (the 'Royal' was added in 1905) and St. Georges Chapel in 1841. I did not draw this in 2012.
